SNAP Impact from Government Shutdown

SNAP and cash benefits aren't affected by the federal shutdown yet — but November payments could face delays. SNAP (food stamps) , WIC , cash assistance , and Medicaid programs are currently open.

What to Expect

  • No pending SNAP deposits will appear in your EBT account right now.
  • If the shutdown continues past October, November SNAP benefits may be delayed.
  • HEAP(Home Energy Assistance Program) has delayed winter heating applications until further notice.

What Still Works

  • Your EBT and eWIC cards work as usual.
  • Apply for benefits online via ACCESS HRA , NY State WIC , or NY State of Health .
  • Keep recertifying, reporting changes, and responding to requests in your ACCESS HRA account.
